Music Director’s Word

Police and gangster films have long been an important genre in Chinese cinema. These films are not only compelling in their narratives but also possess a unique charm in their music. Music, as one of the souls of these films, often enhances the tension and emotional depth of the story.

The theme of HONG KONG FILM MUSIC FIESTA 2025 is ” Echoes of Order and Chaos” and paying tribute to Director Chan Muk Sing, screenwriter Kawai Kenji, and Teddy Robin. The concert will feature many classic original film scores and songs, including works from “New Police Story”, “Raging Fire”, “Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In”, “Gallants”, “ “Cops and Robbers”, all newly arranged and orchestrated by Hong Kong Composers in Filmmaking Industry.

This performance also uniquely blends an electronic band with traditional instruments like the shakuhachi, erhu, and a classical string orchestra, creating a diverse musical style. The live music will accompany iconic scenes from the films, aiming to present an unforgettable musical event while promoting the legacy of Hong Kong cinema and its original music.
